Local egg farm makes own cartons with recycled plastic
Hickmans Family Farms helps reuse plastic and avoids supply chain problems. Since the start of the pandemic, Hickman’s Family Farms has been working to counteract supply chain issues through a new venture. They wanted to find a way to reduce waste while packaging their eggs faster, so they dove into the world of recycling plastics.

Egg Farms in Africa
The initial barn at an African egg farm would produce about 25,000 dz eggs per year, need only 2 people. At 300 eggs per person consumption, 1000 people would be fed annually. That’s a pretty good ratio of work to results.
Lower in Emissions and Cumulative Energy Demand
From 1960 to 2010, per kilogram of eggs produced the environmental footprint was 71% lower in greenhouse gas emissions and 31% lower in cumulative energy demand.

Today, Hickman’s Family Farms donated 54,000 eggs to @StMarysFoodBank, which will provide nutritious meals to our neighbors in need. We are proud to join America’s egg farmers and @IncredibleEgg in a nationwide effort this spring to provide 5.5 million eggs to hungry families.

Donation to Yavapai Food Bank
In November, Shari requested to personally purchase about 60 cases/900 dozen eggs to donate to Yavapai Food Bank. Glenn, Billy, and Clint Hickman intercepted this request and donated 960 cases, or 14,400 dozen.
